James Pugh, Director
James graduated with a Master of Management in Library and Information Science from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. He has worked in libraries for 8 years performing duties such as marketing, outreach, and collection development. Cedar Springs Public Library is his first role as Library Director.
Laura Parks, Assistant Director
Laura graduated from Durand Area High School earning her High School Diploma. After high school, Laura attended Baker College where she achieved an Associates Degree in Executive Office Specialist. She is currently working toward earning her MeL Maven Badge certificate and possess Level 4 Paraprofessional Library Certification through the Library of Michigan.
Melissa Dubridge, Program Manager
Melissa is a 2008 Cedar Springs Alumni where she later went to Grand Rapids Community College to further her education. She worked in the Produce Industry doing sales and marketing for over 7 years. Melissa also graduated and completed two Dale Carnegie courses.
Cassie Hall, Marketing Communication
Cassie attended Central Michigan University and achieved a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree majoring in Family Studies with minors in Child Development and Gerontology. She also achieved the MeL Maven Badge certificate through the Library of Michigan and currently possess Level 3 Limited Professional Library Certification through the Library of Michigan as well.
Mary Gardner, Library Assistant II
Mary attended Grand Rapids Community College for Photojournalism. She is certified in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. She enjoys teaching Sunday School to Preschoolers, along with Jewelry Making and Quilling at the library. Within the past year, she has been taking courses in Gemology through the International Gem Society. Mary achieved the MeL Maven Badge certificate through the Library of Michigan and is currently taking courses to earn her Level 4 Library Staff Certification.
Doug Christensen, Library Assistant I
Doug earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from Michigan State University and later achieved a Master of Public Administration degree from Western Michigan University. He worked several years as a Registered Sanitarian and is still currently licensed. Doug has been trained at managing the Library’s inter-library delivery exchange and is currently responsible for repairing any of our damaged books.

Rachel Vanhorn, Library Assistant I
Rachel graduated from Flint Powers Catholic High School where she then went onto receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from Michigan State University. Rachel worked as a Public Health Educator for 13 years. She will be working to receive her MeL Maven Badge certificate through the Library of Michigan as well as her Library Staff certification soon.
Amy Page, Library Assistant I
Following high school, Amy was the office manager for her parents’ family business. She then earned an Associate of Business Administration-Management degree from Indiana Tech. While a stay-at-home mom, Amy volunteered as the fundraising chairperson for the cooperative preschool her children attended. She has been an active participant in the homeschool community since 2013 and currently runs a homeschool bowling league. She will be working to receive her MeL Maven Badge certificate through the Library of Michigan as well as her Library Staff certification soon.
Yuko Roberts, Collection Services Manager
Yuko graduated from J.F. Oberlin University in Tokyo, Japan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and American Literature and Language. She also has achieved a Level 3 Limited Professional Library Certificate through the Library of Michigan.
Sue Doerr, Custodian
Sue graduated from Grandville High School where she then completed a nursing diploma program at Butterworth School of Nursing. Sue worked as a nurse for 42 years before retiring and then became our Custodian.
